Getting the Baseline Gentoo Plug Computer Distribution Tar Ball

The full baseline Gentoo distribution is a tar, bzipped file that should produce all the Plug Computer components listed below. For a JFFS2 image (or UBIFS image), there is the stripped down SELinux Plug Computer Gentoo Distribution. The UBIFS image has not been made yet.

If you walk through the Using Gentoo on the Plug Computer, you will be able to produce the same contents that is in the baseline tar, bzipped file when decompressed minus the proc, sys, selinux, and mnt directories, which should be added manually if using the baseline for NFS root.

Philosophy Behind the What is a "Baseline"

Just a brief note on what is a "baseline" since that term itself is somewhat misleading. In this case, the baseline is one where most of Portage can be compiled and where a general web server (lighttpd) could be configured and advanced security, SELinux, is possible. As discussed already, the baseline does not include the kernel sources.

Processes that Start Under the Baseline Gentoo Distribution

Just to understand what should be presented to you on the baseline, here is a list of processes that start when the Plug Computer boots from the baseline.
